FitMi Review (Stroke Rehabilitation Tool)
Product: FitMi
Company: Flint Rehab
FitMi is a home rehabilitation system designed to help stroke survivors improve movement through high-repetition, interactive exercises. The system includes two wireless therapy pucks and software that guides you through exercises while tracking your repetitions and progress.
The idea behind FitMi is simple but powerful: more repetitions lead to better neuroplastic recovery. The system encourages hundreds of movements per session while keeping you engaged with on-screen feedback and challenges.
How FitMi Works
FitMi connects to a tablet or computer and walks you through a series of guided exercises for the hands, arms, core, and legs.
You place your hands or affected limb on the therapy pucks and perform movements such as:
- Gripping
- Lifting
- Twisting
- Reaching
- Tapping
The software counts your repetitions automatically and gradually increases difficulty as you improve.
This gamified approach helps many stroke survivors stay motivated during repetitive rehab exercises.
Pros
Encourages high repetitions – essential for neuroplastic recovery after stroke.
Guided therapy sessions – the software walks you through exercises step-by-step.
Tracks progress automatically – helpful for staying motivated and seeing improvement.
Home-based rehab – allows you to practice outside of formal OT/PT sessions.
Adaptable difficulty levels – exercises adjust as your ability improves.
Works for different impairment levels – from mild weakness to moderate impairment.
Cons
✘ Requires some movement ability – users with severe paralysis may struggle to start without assistance.
✘ Screen-based interaction – requires a computer or tablet setup. The unit can be purchased with or without the computer. I purchased just the software and the exercise Pucks and use my Mac, which works very well!
✘ Repetitive exercises – some users may find sessions monotonous over time. But the challenge to keep up might be an enciuragemento continue.
✘ Cost – may not be covered by insurance or Medicare.
✘ Not a replacement for therapy – best used as a supplement to professional OT/PT.
My Take
FitMi is one of the most accessible home neurorehab tools available today. Its biggest strength is encouraging large numbers of repetitions, which many stroke survivors struggle to achieve on their own. and it takes some of the monotony out og the exercises.
For people motivated to practice daily, it can be a powerful addition to a home recovery routine. I practice daily.
However, it’s important to remember that devices like FitMi should be used alongside guidance from your doctor or occupational/physical therapist.
Note: Because some rehab products require professional fitting, medical approval, or direct purchase from the manufacturer, they may not be available in The Survived Stroke Store. I review them so you know what options exist and can discuss them with your healthcare team.
